Program Overview

Overview of the Bachelor of Engineering (Biomedical Engineering) programme

The BME programme is a four-year journey where students will be educated on the fundamentals and methodologies in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical and Material Engineering, with focus on their applicability to biomedical problems. This would enable our students to have both the foundation and versatility, to develop effective and practical solutions relating to human health.

Design and research-based projects are integral parts of the curriculum. They help to develop in students the spirit of innovation, multidisciplinary and critical thinking skills. A portion of the curriculum is also set aside for non-engineering areas such as professionalism and ethics in legal and regulatory affairs, and soft skills such as leadership, teamwork and management which are indispensable for our graduates to thrive in tomorrow’s workplace.

Accreditation

The BME programme is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Board (EAB) of Singapore, which is a signatory of the Washington Accord. This means that as our graduate, you will be accepted for the practice of engineering at the professional level, as well as for graduate studies, in countries that are part of this Accord, including USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea.
