The Department of English, Linguistics and Theatre Studies at the National University of Singapore offers a Single Major B.A. in English Language program.
Graduation Requirements
To major in English Language, students need to:
- Pass EL1101E The Nature of Language, which will be counted towards the Faculty Core or UE requirements.
- Pass at least 44 units of EL or EL-recognised courses, including:
- EL2101 Structure of Sentences and Meanings
- EL2102 Sound Patterns in Language
- EL2111 Historical Variation in English
- EL2151 Social Variation in English
- A minimum of 20 units at level 3000 or higher
- A maximum of 12 units of EL-recognised courses

A maximum of 12 units from the following EL-recognised courses may be read to fulfill EL Major requirements:
