Program Overview
The Department of English, Linguistics and Theatre Studies at the National University of Singapore offers a Single Major B.A. in English Literature program. This program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of English literature and its various aspects.
Program Requirements
To major in English Literature, students need to fulfill the following requirements:
- Pass EN1101E An Introduction to Literary Studies, which will be counted towards the Faculty Core or UE requirements.
- Pass at least 44 units of EN or EN-recognised courses, which include:
- A minimum of 4 units at EN level-2000
- A minimum of 8 units from literature before 1800
- A minimum of 24 units at level 3000 or higher

For students in the cohort 2016 to 2019, the program requirements are as follows:
- Pass EN1101E An Introduction to Literary Studies, which will be counted towards the Faculty Core or UE requirements.
- Pass at least 44 units of EN or EN-recognised courses, which include:
- A minimum of 4 units from the following:
