Program Overview

The NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine offers various programs for prospective students, including the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Graduate Research Programmes, Graduate Coursework Programmes, and Nursing Programmes.


Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)

The MBBS program at NUS Medicine trains students to the highest clinical standards, with an experienced faculty that includes internationally respected clinicians and scientists.


Graduate Research Programmes

The NUS Medicine Graduate Programme is a research-oriented program aimed at training competent biomedical scientists and clinician-scientists who will spearhead and drive the medical biotechnology efforts in the industry.


Graduate Coursework Programmes

The Graduate Coursework Programmes offer masters by coursework and specialist diplomas to help doctors and allied professionals face the complex and intricate healthcare challenges that we face as a global society.

The Postgraduate Nursing Programmes offer advanced education and training for nurses who wish to specialize in a particular area of nursing practice.


Minor in Integrative Health

The Minor in Integrative Health enables non-healthcare students to understand health and integrate different expertise to prevent and predict diseases, safeguard health, and overcome complex health issues.


Clinical Electives Programme for Overseas Visiting Students (CEPOVS)

The CEPOVS program offers medical students from universities outside of Singapore the opportunity to complete an electives posting(s) at one of the NUS Medicine-affiliated hospitals.


The MBBS Intercalated Year Programme (IYP)

The IYP program offers NUS Medicine’s undergraduate medical students the opportunity to take one academic year off in the course of the MBBS programme to pursue another area of study while being enrolled in the medical school.


Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme promotes research amongst NUS Medicine undergraduates, with undergraduate research carried out under the supervision of a Principal Investigator.

  • GDCAH Faculty: Consists of specialists working in related fields, including paediatrics, child development, adolescent medicine, family medicine, lifestyle and weight management, psychiatry and psychology, sexual health, dental, dietetics, and complementary health.

Course Agenda

The course agenda for the various programs is as follows:


  • Learning Together Clinics (LTC): Will be conducted once every two weeks (weekday AM/PM) or weekend (AM only).

Pre-Requisites and Assessment

The pre-requisites and assessment for the various programs are as follows:


  • Prerequisite: M.B.B.S. degree or equivalent, at least 2 years post-registration, English language requirement.
  • Assessment: Will be conducted longitudinally throughout the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma course using various formats, including attendance, assignments, demonstrations, online self-assessments, key features problems, and/or script concordance tests.

Awards and Certification

The awards and certification for the various programs are as follows:


  • Graduate Certificate in Child Development and Adolescent Health: Completion of the CAH5105 course and 2 other courses (CAH5104 and CAH5106) will lead to a Graduate Certificate in Child Development and Adolescent Health.
