Program Overview
NYU Tandon Bridge Program
The NYU Tandon Bridge Program is a 100% online, self-paced course designed for learners from non-technical backgrounds to gain the knowledge and confidence to succeed in today's technology-driven world.
Build Your Foundation in STEM
The Bridge Program provides a rigorous introduction to computer science fundamentals, mathematical reasoning, and programming. Developed and taught by faculty in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the program helps learners master core computing concepts and apply them in real-world contexts.
Why Choose the Bridge Program
- Build a Technical Foundation: Learn core computing concepts including programming, algorithms, data structures, and systems fundamentals.
- Advance Your Career or Education: Use the Bridge certificate to strengthen your credentials for graduate study or signal technical readiness for career opportunities in data, software, or emerging tech.
- Earn a Recognized Credential: Upon completion, you'll receive a Certificate in Core Computer Science Principles which can enhance your professional profile and, for those applying to NYU Tandon master's programs, bolsters your application and waives the application fee.
- Flexible, Online, and Self-Paced: Study on your own schedule through modules, quizzes, assignments, and exams—all designed to help you apply concepts as you learn them.
Program Structure
The Bridge Program consists of two parts:
Bridge OnRamp
An optional prep course covering:
- Precalculus Foundations
- Introduction to Python
Bridge Course
The main curriculum covering:
- Discrete Mathematics
- C++
- Data Structures
- Networking
- Operating Systems
The course is letter-graded, and learners must earn a grade of C (70%) or better to pass and receive a certificate credential. Grades are determined by performance on four exams taken throughout the course.
Student Testimonials
- Kelly Lunghamer, Cybersecurity, MS, Sr. Security Solution Engineer, Microsoft: "The NYU Tandon Bridge Program was my stepping stone into a career in technology.
