Introduction to the NYU SPS High School Academy
The NYU SPS High School Academy offers a range of programs designed to provide high school students with a unique and enriching educational experience. One of the flagship programs is the Career Edge - NYU High School Summer Program, which allows students to explore career options and gain a competitive edge when applying for college.
Career Edge - NYU High School Summer Program
The Career Edge program is a premier summer college program that has served thousands of high school students from around the world. The program provides students with an exceptional college and career readiness experience, allowing them to explore career paths and experience what it is like to live on the NYU campus and learn at a renowned US university.
Program Overview
The Career Edge Program offers students the chance to explore a career path prior to declaring it as a college major. Many students opt to attend multiple weeks, taking a different course each session. The program focuses on content that provides a comprehensive overview of the student's area of interest, with field trips to related companies and organizations bringing what is learned in class to life.
Academic Experience
Career Edge courses deliver rich content and hands-on experience that totally immerses students in the professional environment. Classroom learning is enhanced through guest lectures and field trips. Four summer sessions are available from which to choose, allowing students to take one course or attend multiple sessions to maximize their experience.
NYC Experience
Living and learning in NYC is an unforgettable adventure. Students will dive deep into course content that immerses them in industry, while enjoying the culture and excitement of the city that never sleeps.
Application Requirements and Fees
To apply for the Career Edge program, students must have successfully completed grades 9, 10, or 11. The application requirements include:
- Submitting the online application
- A 250-500 word essay
- An official high school transcript
The essay topic requires students to describe why they would like to take their selected course(s), including any previous courses they've taken in the subject or previous experiences with the subject.
The fees for the Summer 2026 program are:
- Application Fee: $50 (non-refundable)
- Tuition: $2,579 per course
- Housing & Dining Fees (optional add-on): $684
Please note that no financial aid, scholarships, or discounts are available for Career Edge, except for a 10% discount available to NYU Faculty/Staff Only.
Career Edge Schedule
The Career Edge program offers six sessions, each with a specific start and end date:
- Session 1: June 29, 2026 - July 2, 2026
- Session 2: July 6, 2026 - July 10, 2026
- Session 3: July 13, 2026 - July 17, 2026
- Session 4: July 20, 2026 - July 24, 2026
- Session 5: July 27, 2026 - July 31, 2026
- Session 6: August 3, 2026 - August 7, 2026

The program is open to students who have successfully completed grades 9, 10, or 11, and the application requirements include an online application, essay, and official high school transcript. The fees for the program include an application fee, tuition, and optional housing and dining fees.
