Program Overview

The Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music is the first of its kind to provide professional business and artistic training toward a B.F.A degree for aspiring creative entrepreneurs in the music industry.


Program Details

  • The program is designed for high school students to receive specialized training in music business entrepreneurship alongside direct instruction on the latest studio hardware to create and distribute commercially successful recordings.
  • The program immerses students in the heart of the music industry, providing exposure to current practices and innovators in the field.
  • The program focuses on educating students on how to be responsible and informed makers, consumers, and distributors of popular music.

Core Curriculum

Students take the following courses for a combined total of 6 units:


  • Fundamentals of Music Production (REMU-UT 0500, 2 units)
  • Foundations of Music Business (REMU-UT 0501, 2 units)
  • Arts & Culture of New York City (REMU-UT 0502, 2 units)

Schedule

Housing

  • Students accepted to the Tisch Summer High School program live in NYU housing.
  • Students must be at least 15 to reside in housing for this program.

Scholarships

  • Tisch has a limited number of scholarships for high school students to attend the Tisch summer programs.
  • Scholarships are given to students who demonstrate the most financial need.

Admissions

  • The summer 2026 application deadline is December 1, 2025.
  • Open to high school sophomores and juniors.
  • Online application fee: $75

  • Students will have the opportunity to work on projects and showcase their work.
