Nurse-Midwifery (Advanced Certificate)
Program Overview
Nurse-Midwifery (Advanced Certificate)
Overview
The Nurse-Midwifery program at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in midwifery, blending science and art. The program is based on the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) core competencies for basic midwifery practice and utilizes an evidence-based approach to teaching midwifery competency.
Program Description
The program's philosophy is centered on the Midwifery Model of Care, which respects, enhances, and supports the normal physiological process while understanding the importance of independent, consultative, and referral practice components. Students are encouraged to actively participate in their education and that of their colleagues through a problem-based learning approach. The goal of the program is not merely competency but an understanding that midwifery education is a career-long process.
