Program Overview
The Nurse-Midwifery program at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing is a master's program that focuses on the education of nurse-midwives. The program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to practice as certified nurse-midwives.
Program Description
The program is based on the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) core competencies for basic midwifery practice. The faculty uses an evidence-based approach to teaching midwifery competency, and students are encouraged to actively participate in their education through a problem-based learning approach. The program aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of midwifery practice, including the Midwifery Model of Care, and to prepare them for careers as certified nurse-midwives.

Admissions
To be eligible for the program, applicants must have:
- A BS in nursing or a BS/BA in a non-nursing field together with an associate's degree in nursing
- A minimum GPA of 3.0
- A NYS nursing license prior to beginning coursework
- At least one year of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse (prior to beginning the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner master's program)
- Completion of a basic statistics course and a basic research course at the undergraduate level
Applicants must submit:
- One transcript from each post-secondary school attended
- A resume
- A two- to three-page personal statement
- At least two letters of recommendation
- RN license and registration certificate
Program Accreditation
The NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing's Nurse-Midwifery master's program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME).

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will:
