Nurse Anesthesia Program
Admission Requirements
- Graduate from a CCNE or NLNAC accredited nursing program with a baccalaureate or advanced degree in nursing.
- Possess an unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in one of the U.S. states or territories
- An Iowa RN License will be required upon matriculation
- Minimum of one year staff nurse Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS
Application Process
- Completion of an application to the University of Iowa Graduate College
- Upload the following documents:

- Supplemental Application Form
- Coursework Information Form
- Resume
- Copy of RN license, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification cards
- Contact information for three references
- Signed Statement of Disclosure
- Submit unofficial transcripts for initial evaluation of academic work
- Submit official transcripts for work done in all undergraduate and graduate courses to the Office of Admissions prior to acceptance
Selection Process
- Overall academic achievement, performance in science courses, ICU experience, personal statements, and references will be considered when deciding which applicants will be invited for personal interviews.
- Selected applicants will be notified of their candidacy for admission and will be required to come to Iowa City for an interview at the candidate’s expense.
- The admissions subcommittee will meet within a week of final interviews and determine applicants to which they would like to offer admission in the next cohort of IOWA DNP-CRNA students.
