Nurse Anesthesia Program

Admission Requirements

  • Graduate from a CCNE or NLNAC accredited nursing program with a baccalaureate or advanced degree in nursing.
  • Possess an unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in one of the U.S. states or territories
    • An Iowa RN License will be required upon matriculation
  • Minimum of one year staff nurse Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS

Application Process

  1. Completion of an application to the University of Iowa Graduate College
  2. Upload the following documents:
    • Personal Goal Statement
    • Supplemental Application Form
    • Coursework Information Form
    • Resume
    • Copy of RN license, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification cards
    • Contact information for three references
    • Signed Statement of Disclosure
  3. Submit unofficial transcripts for initial evaluation of academic work
  4. Submit official transcripts for work done in all undergraduate and graduate courses to the Office of Admissions prior to acceptance

Selection Process

  • Overall academic achievement, performance in science courses, ICU experience, personal statements, and references will be considered when deciding which applicants will be invited for personal interviews.
  • Selected applicants will be notified of their candidacy for admission and will be required to come to Iowa City for an interview at the candidate’s expense.
  • The admissions subcommittee will meet within a week of final interviews and determine applicants to which they would like to offer admission in the next cohort of IOWA DNP-CRNA students.
