Program Overview


Cytopathology Fellowship Program

The Cytopathology Fellowship Program at the University of Iowa Health Care aims to provide trainees with in-depth knowledge and competence necessary for the practice of pathology with specialty expertise in cytopathology. This training includes interpretation of all types of cytologic specimens, as well as performance of fine needle aspirations (FNA) and adequacy assessment of cytologic specimens during ultrasound, CT, EUS, and EBUS procedures.


Program Overview

  • The program provides trainees with the experience and knowledge of technical, scientific, and regulatory aspects of the practice of cytopathology necessary for oversight and administration of a cytopathology laboratory.
  • Fellows who wish to pursue an academic career can receive the depth and breadth of training necessary to pursue an academic career with specialty expertise in cytopathology.
