Program Overview
Introduction to Radiologic Technology
Radiologic technologists are healthcare professionals specializing in the imaging of human anatomy for diagnosis and treatment. They prepare patients for imaging exams, position them correctly, and operate specialized equipment. Radiologic technologists work in various settings, including hospitals, medical labs, doctor's offices, and outpatient centers, and can specialize in areas such as Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CVI), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Mammography Radiography, and Vascular Interventional Radiography (IR).
Program Information
The Radiologic Technology program at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine offers five professional track options:
- Radiologic Technology (RT)
- RT and Breast Imaging (BI)
- RT and Cardiovascular Interventional (CVI)
- RT and Computed Tomography (CT)
- RT and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) All tracks are selective and competitive, requiring students to satisfy UI admission requirements, complete prerequisites, and undergo an application and selection process.
