Program Overview
Interdepartmental Studies Program
The Interdepartmental Studies Program is part of the Division of Interdisciplinary Programs.
Business Studies Track
The Business Studies Track requires 37-50 semester hours of work for the major. It provides a preapproved plan of study that combines a generalized business background with a choice of four emphasis areas: organizational practice and perspectives, arts management, and technology and inquiry.
Degree Requirements
- Foundation courses: 11-15 hours
- Business Electives: 10-12 hours
- Emphasis Area: 15-20 hours
- Career Preparation Component: 1-3 hours
- Total Hours: 37-50
Important Notes for Business Studies Track Students
- Maximum two class overlap if applying courses to a double major. The exception to this rule is that there is no limit on the number of GE CLAS Core courses that can overlap between two majors.
- No major coursework can be counted toward a minor. The exception to this rule is that there is no limit on the number of GE CLAS Core courses that can overlap between a minor and the interdepartmental studies major.
- A student earning an Interdepartmental Studies major must earn a minimum of 30 semester hours of credit from courses offered by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, thus satisfying the CLAS Residence requirement.
- Business Studies Track students are prohibited from earning a Business major.
- Business Studies Track students are prohibited from earning a Business Administration minor.
