Program Overview
Introduction to the MBA & MSW Dual Degree Program
The Iowa MBA and Master in Social Work (MSW) degree program is designed to produce graduates with the unique skills to make a positive impact in the world by integrating business and human well-being. This combined degree prepares students to lead and manage within a diverse array of organizations, including social welfare entities, non-profit associations, government agencies, private or group practices, and corporations.
Program Overview
Timing
The MBA/MSW dual degree can be completed in approximately two to three years, depending on undergraduate degree and coursework scheduling. There must be at least one semester of overlap (dual enrollment) to be considered as a dual degree and benefit from the reduced/cross-counted credit.
Admissions Requirements
Students will be expected to meet admission requirements of the respective programs, taking the requisite admission exams, and providing appropriate admission materials. The two programs make admission decisions independently. Students may begin each program in advance of the other or begin the two programs concurrently.
Tuition
Tuition and fees for MSW courses are based on the graduate rate in the tuition and fees table for the Social Work MSW, which varies by the number of semester hours and residency. Tuition for an Iowa MBA course (3 semester hours) is currently $2250 and is levied per course in addition to any tuition due for MSW courses.
Credit Hours Required
The Iowa MBA Program accepts up to 12 semester hours of MSW coursework as credit toward MBA degree requirements. The Master in Social Work (MSW) Program accepts up to 9 semester hours of MBA coursework as credit toward MSW degree requirements. The total number of credits required for the MSW is dependent upon undergraduate degree.
