The Department of Internal Medicine at the Carver College of Medicine offers the Physician Scientist Training Pathway (PSTP), a program designed to foster the postgraduate training and career development of physician-scientists. The PSTP integrates the transition period from completion of the MD degree through residency, clinical fellowship, and basic or clinical postdoctoral research training.
Program Details
The PSTP was developed to support future leaders in academic medicine. The program is led by David Stoltz, MD, PhD, Director of the PSTP Program and Professor in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Occupational Medicine.
Program Structure
The PSTP integrates various stages of medical training, including:
- Residency
- Clinical fellowship
- Basic or clinical postdoctoral research training

The primary goal of the PSTP is to provide a comprehensive training pathway for physician-scientists, enabling them to become leaders in academic medicine.
