The Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine Fellowship Program at the University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children's Hospital is committed to training the next generation of academic pediatric pulmonologists. The program aims to develop the academic leaders of the future by attracting, recruiting, inspiring, and training intellectually curious individuals to become innovators in the field of Pediatric Pulmonology.

Program Overview

• The program provides a comprehensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of pediatric breathing disorders.
• Fellows are taught the scientific method of critical thought and analysis and are trained for a career in academic pulmonary medicine.
• The program prides itself on helping fellows become well-rounded and insightful pediatric pulmonologists who excel in clinical medicine and research.

Program Details

  • Aerodigestive issues
  • Asthma
  • Bronchopulmonary dysplasia
  • Childhood interstitial lung disease (chILD)
  • Cystic fibrosis and Primary ciliary dyskinesia
  • Exercise-related shortness of breath and vocal cord dysfunction
  • Non-CF bronchiectasis
  • Respiratory insufficiency and technology dependence
  • Sickle cell-related lung disease
  • Tracheostomy and ventilator dependence
