Program Overview


Master of Arts Program

The Master of Arts (M.A.) in music degree is designed for graduate students who desire focused, academic study in ethnomusicology, music education, music history and literature, or music theory within the context of a major research university.


Program Structure

All of our M.A. degrees can be completed in two years and require thirty credit hours of graduate-level work. Most M.A. degrees culminate in a thesis project, although many allow students to select an alternative non-thesis option involving additional coursework and a smaller project.
