Program Overview


Introduction to the Dietetics Program

The University of Maryland offers an undergraduate Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. This program has been preparing students to become outstanding Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN) since 1977.


Program Overview

The Dietetics Program at the University of Maryland benefits from decades of experience from its accomplished and diverse faculty. Graduates of the program may choose to pursue entry into medical and dental school, pharmacy and physician assistant school, or graduate study in a variety of fields. Approximately 120 students are enrolled in the program, with a 100 percent pass rate on the national Registration Exam for Dietitians within one year of first attempt for alumni who have taken the exam in the past five years.

Combined BS/MS Degree in Dietetics

The program offers a non-thesis combined BS/MS degree in Dietetics, designed for outstanding undergraduate dietetic students. This program allows students to complete the MS degree in one year from the completion of the BS degree.
