Program Overview


Program Overview

The Master of Economic Development and Innovation (MEDI) program is a coursework-based, on-campus program that can be completed in 1 year. It is available for full-time or part-time study.


Admission Requirements

The application deadline for Fall 2026 is February 1, 2026. Please consult the Graduate Calendar for the Master of Economic Development and Innovation (MEDI) admission requirements.


Program Structure

  • The program consists of 8 courses and a Capstone Project.
  • Full-time students normally graduate in 1 year by enrolling in 4 courses per term and complete the Capstone Project in the third and final term.
  • Part-time students have greater flexibility and will work with the program coordinator to balance program and work responsibilities.

    • ECDEV 602 – Economic Development: Policy and Practice
    • ECDEV 603 – Analytical Tools for Economic Development
    • 1 graduate-level elective course
  • Term 2 (Winter):
    • ECDEV 604 – Management and Policy Tools for Economic Development and Sustainability Professionals
    • ECDEV 605 – Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development
    • ECDEV 606 – Innovation and Economic Development in Cities and Regions
    • 1 graduate-level elective course
  • Term 3 (Spring/onward):
    • Capstone Project

Graduation Requirements

To graduate, students are required to have a minimum GPA of 70% and successfully complete the Capstone Project.
