Program Overview
The Sexualities, Relationships, and Families degree program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of relationships, communication, parenting, and the impact of culture on sexual values. This program is offered through the Faculty of Arts and is available as a co-op program or a regular program.
Program Structure
The program is structured to allow students to explore different perspectives and gain a deeper understanding of the topics. In the first year, students will take a combination of core courses and electives. The core courses include:
- SRF 101 – Introduction to Relationships and Families
- ARTS 160 – Inquiry and Knowledge Creation
- Prospective major #2
- 2 electives
In the second year, students will continue to take a combination of core courses and electives. The core courses include:
- SRF 204 – Introduction to Human Sexuality
- Prospective major #2
- 3 electives
Co-op Program
The co-op program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in their field of study. Students will alternate between school terms and paid co-op work terms throughout their degree. The co-op work-study sequence is as follows:
- Year 1: Study
- Year 2: Study, Co-op
- Year 3: Co-op, Study, Co-op
- Year 4: Study, Co-op, Co-op
- Year 5: Study, Study
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the program, students must meet the following admission requirements:
- Ontario students: six Grade 12 U and/or M courses including any Grade 12 U English (minimum final grade of at least 70%)
- Admission average: Low 80s (co-op and regular)
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the program can pursue careers in teaching, youth support work, and sexual health education in schools, government, non-profit organizations, and more. Some recent graduates have gone on to work as:

Students can customize their degree by adding additional areas of expertise through minors or specializations. Popular choices include:

Faculty and Degree
The program is offered through the Faculty of Arts and leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sexualities, Relationships, and Families. The program is available as a co-op program or a regular program, and students can also pursue a minor in the field.
