Kinesiology and Health Sciences - Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

The PhD in Science in Kinesiology and Health Sciences program is a nationally and internationally recognized program that advances knowledge and pursues careers in health, aging, illness, and injury prevention. Program Details

In this program, students complete graduate courses, including cross-disciplinary seminars and specialized graduate research seminars, comprehensive examinations, and contribute to a growing body of knowledge through research. Students submit their work to peer-reviewed presentations and publications. The coursework and research can be focused in one of three areas: biomechanics, neuroscience, or physiology and nutrition. Within these areas, there is a strong emphasis on aging, injury, and disease prevention, health promotion, and rehabilitation.


Admission Requirements

  • A master's degree with a minimum 75% average in a relevant field (normally Kinesiology, Recreation and Leisure Studies, or Health Studies and Gerontology, but other degrees in Life and Social Sciences could be suitable as well)
  • Letter stating research interests and why the student wishes to pursue graduate studies
