The University of Waterloo offers a course on Verbal De-escalation (SO1181), designed to provide basic instruction on how to successfully de-escalate an individual who is angry or upset and whose behaviour is becoming inappropriate for the workplace.
Purpose
The objective of this course is to equip University of Waterloo employees with the skills necessary to manage people in crisis, such as anxious students, upset customers, or individuals having a tough day.

This course is intended for University of Waterloo employees who interact with individuals in crisis.
