Program Overview
MA Recreation and Leisure Studies (coursework)
This program is designed to help students organize their progress through their coursework. The following tasks are the student's responsibility.
Program Requirements
- Registration: Register as an active student every term (Fall, Winter, and Spring) by arranging payment of tuition fees. Inactive registration is exceptional for medical reasons or other temporary obligations. If inactive status is requested, approval must be sought from the supervisor, the Associate Chair, Graduate Studies, and the Associate Dean, Graduate Studies. Requests for inactive status will not always be approved.
- Academic Integrity: Complete academic integrity milestones, which are required by the University and must be completed before a student can graduate. These milestones include:
- Completing the online Academic Integrity Tutorial through the LEARN account within 8 weeks of starting the program.
- Attending the AHS Academic Integrity Workshop, normally held in September.
- Coursework: Complete a minimum of 8 courses, normally completed in one year. These courses include:
- REC 600 Integrative Seminar in Recreation and Leisure Studies
- REC 662 Foundations of Quantitative Inquiry
- REC 663 Foundations of Qualitative Inquiry
- REC 620 Program Evaluation in Recreation, Sport and Tourism
- Four graduate electives
- Application to Graduate: Complete the application to graduate on Quest.
- Convocation: Attend convocation and celebrate. More information about convocation can be found on the Registrar's Office Graduation and Convocation website.
- Alumni Connection: Connect with the Alumni Office and keep in touch.
