Enterprise Co-op (E Co-op) for Pharmacy Students

The Enterprise Co-op (E Co-op) program is an option available to University of Waterloo co-op students, empowering them to begin their own business during a work term while obtaining co-op credit. The School of Pharmacy offers this option to Pharmacy students interested in developing a healthcare-related business.

Program Overview

E Co-op is available all year long, with applications accepted on a rolling basis during main campus recruitment cycles. The final application deadline is the last month of the recruitment term for consideration to join the next term.

How it Works

To apply, students must have a well-formulated business idea, the motivation to succeed as an entrepreneur, and a thorough knowledge of their target market. During the working term, students will turn their hypothetical business idea into an actual business and have access to a wide network of mentors, entrepreneurs, and professionals who can provide feedback on their business development.

Additional Opportunities

Students may have the option to enroll in BET 300 and BET 400 courses, which are exclusively available to students starting a venture through E Co-op (upon approval by School of Pharmacy academic advisors).

Testimonials

  • Emily Harper (Rx2025), Founder of Rafino Skin, found E Co-op to be a great opportunity to pursue her idea and create her company.
  • Aref Sleiman (Rx2023), Co-founder of BridgedRx, appreciated the flexibility and learning experience offered by the program, which helped him develop entrepreneurship and business skills that can be applied to the profession of pharmacy.

Program Benefits

  • Develop their business knowledge and skills
  • Strengthen their entrepreneurial mindset
  • Create a healthcare-related business

Conclusion

The Enterprise Co-op (E Co-op) program for Pharmacy students offers a unique opportunity for students to develop their entrepreneurial skills, create a healthcare-related business, and access a network of mentors and professionals. With its flexible application process and additional opportunities for learning, E Co-op is an attractive option for students looking to combine their passion for pharmacy with their entrepreneurial spirit.
