New Master's Program

A new master's program in Nordic languages and literature will explore how mental illness is constructed and understood through culture, language, and texts. The program will examine how mental illness has been represented in literature, language, and media throughout history.


Program Description

The program will provide a broad and interdisciplinary perspective on mental illness, incorporating insights from media studies, linguistics, and literary theory. Students will analyze how mental illness is represented in different texts and media, including literature, film, and social media.


Research Focus

The program will focus on the following research areas:


  • How mental illness is constructed and understood through culture, language, and texts
  • The representation of mental illness in literature, language, and media
  • The historical development of mental illness as a concept
  • The relationship between mental illness and societal norms and discourses

Admission Criteria

  • Bachelor's degree in Nordic languages and literature or a related field
  • English language proficiency
