Program Overview
The postgraduate program in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the Institute of Astronomy, Geofysics, and Atmospheric Sciences of the University of São Paulo was the first in the country, initiated in 1973 by a group of Brazilian researchers who had recently completed their studies abroad. Traditionally, it has been the course with the largest number of students (approximately 60) and advisors (approximately 30), and it has been responsible for the training of the majority of professionals in Astronomy in the country.
