Overview of the Fonoaudiologia Program at FMUSP

The Fonoaudiologia program at FMUSP is designed to form a general fonoaudiólogo, capable of working competently and critically in primary, secondary, and tertiary levels of health care. The program operates in harmony with the tradition of scientific research and specialist training at FMUSP, ensuring a solid basic education that enables the specialist to work with technical competence and social responsibility.

Objectives

The specific objectives of the program are to prepare graduates to assume their professional identity with competence, enabling them to work in different practice scenarios based on evidence and with consistent scientific foundation. The program provides access to various theoretical and conceptual systems involved in the field of Fonoaudiologia, including the study of language (oral and written), speech, voice, hearing, and orofacial motricity, as well as opportunities for professional practice in diverse contexts.

Infraestrutura

The Fonoaudiologia program at FMUSP has an unparalleled infrastructure for the development of practical activities. The facilities include therapy rooms with video recording equipment and acoustic treatment, rooms for audiological evaluation with acoustic booths and state-of-the-art equipment, and rooms for supervision, research, and clinical meetings. Students have access to various alternatives, from basic health care to high complexity provided by the largest hospital in Latin America (HCFMUSP). They also participate in research laboratories that integrate assistance and research into training.

Inserção Profissional

Graduates of the Fonoaudiologia program at FMUSP can work in maternity hospitals, nurseries, schools, clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, and also in theater, radio, TV, companies, and industries. Another possibility is to remain in the academic area, complementing their education in postgraduate studies (specialization, residence, master's, and doctorate).
