Overview of the Meteorology Program at the University of São Paulo (USP)

The Meteorology program at the University of São Paulo (USP) is the most highly rated program in Brazil in the field of Meteorology. The program aims to prepare students for a wide range of activities that require specialized knowledge in Meteorology.

Description of the Course

The course is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in Mathematics and Physics, which are then applied to professional disciplines. The professional disciplines prepare students to work in fields such as weather forecasting, climatology, cloud physics, and radiation atmospheric science. Students also gain practical experience through mandatory internships and research projects.

Infraestrutura

The Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the IAG has a modern equipment park for teaching and research activities. This includes microcomputers, workstations, and clusters of computers, all interconnected and with access to the Internet. The department also has a complete and modern set of meteorological sensors.

Inserção Profissional

Graduates of the Meteorology program at USP find employment quickly, either in the private or public sector. Many graduates are absorbed into the renewable energy sector, which depends directly on weather and climate conditions. Other graduates work in consulting, weather forecasting, and agriculture. Some graduates also pursue further studies at the master's and doctoral levels, seeking positions as researchers or professors.
