Program Description

The Terapia Ocupacional (TO) is a profession focused on facilitating the realization of tasks for active participation in life, enabling people to live fully, in activities they need to do, regardless of their social condition, health, lifestyle, or context in which they live. Any restrictions on participation in occupations, due to changes in the structure and/or functions of the body, caused by physical or mental health conditions or the environment (physical, social, legal, political, and cultural), make the person a target for TO.

Infrastructure

The TO course at FMRP-USP, established in 2002, has a duration of 5 years and offers 20 annual vacancies (FUVEST, ENEM-USP, and Provão Paulista). The training is theoretical and practical and involves areas of biological sciences (anatomy, physiology, pathology), human sciences (psychology, public health), and specific areas (human occupation and therapeutic resources, TO applied to children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly), research, management, and professional internship.

Professional Insertion

Professional practice scenarios include hospitals, clinics, and offices, rehabilitation centers, primary health care services, psychosocial care centers, community centers, associations of civil society, homes, schools, kindergartens, companies, and public management. The course is accredited by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, allowing graduates to have mobility in member countries.
