Program Overview
Overview of the Program
The Bacharelado and Licenciatura in Ciências Biológicas is a 5-year program offered by the Escola Superior de Agricultura "Luiz de Queiroz" (ESALQ) at the University of São Paulo (USP). The program has 30 annual vacancies and is taught in the evening.
Profession
A biologist is dedicated to the study of life at various levels and aspects to understand the origin, evolution, structure, function, and reproduction of organisms, as well as the relationships between them and the external factors that make up their environment.
Academic Curriculum
The course offers basic disciplines in the biological area, such as botany, genetics, molecular biology, zoology of invertebrates and vertebrates, and in the area of exact sciences, such as biochemistry, biophysics, statistics, and applied mathematics. Additionally, it offers specific and applied disciplines in biotechnology, wildlife management, and agricultural biology.
Infrastructure
The ESALQ/USP offers excellent physical and human infrastructure. Classes take place in the school's departments and in the Center for Nuclear Energy in Agriculture (CENA) at USP in Piracicaba, as well as in field activities and excursions.
