The Especialização em Metodologia do Ensino de Ciências Naturais (Specialization in Methodology of Teaching Natural Sciences) is a program designed for teachers of basic education who teach disciplines of Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

• Format: Presential
• Target Audience: Teachers of basic education who teach disciplines of Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Remaining vacancies can be filled by other professionals working in the area of Natural Science Education.
• Objective: To offer specialization in the area of Education in Sciences to teachers of basic education, aiming to enhance their performance in a critical and innovative manner, with a view to constructing meaningful learning for their students and better training for the exercise of citizenship.
• Duration and Schedule:
  • Total Hours: 360 hours + 40 hours (TCC - Term of Conclusion of Course)
  • Period: From July 11, 2022, to December 16, 2023
  • Schedule: From 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM and from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM
• Location: Centro de Divulgação Científica e Cultural – CDCC, Rua 9 de julho nº 1227, São Carlos (SP)

Admission Criteria

• Approval Criterion: Minimum grade of seven in the disciplines and in the monograph, and minimum presence of 75% in each discipline.
• Number of Vacancies: 22, with 2 reserved for USP employees
• Semester Fee: R$ 700.00, which can be paid in two installments

Inscriptions and Selection

• Inscription Period: From April 11, 2022, to May 23, 2022
• Inscription Process: Inscriptions are made by filling out the registration form, sending copies of the required documents, and paying the registration fee of R$ 30.00.
• Required Documents:
  • Diploma of Higher Education
  • Diplomas of complementary titles (specialization, master's, doctorate)
  • Identity document
  • Proof of payment of the registration fee
• Selection Criteria: Classification in a test in which the elaboration of a text based on the interpretation of excerpts from articles in the area of Science Education and justification of interest in participating in the course will be requested.

Important Notice

The program will not be offered in 2025. New information will be available in 2026.
