Introduction to the Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering

The establishment of the master's degree in mechanical engineering marks a significant milestone in the country's development of engineering education. This program aims to cultivate engineering masters who can combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience, solving real-world problems and driving innovation in their respective companies.

Program Overview

The program is based on the Institute of Mechatronic Control Engineering, the Institute of Mechanical Design, the Institute of Engineering and Computer Graphics, and the Institute of Modern Manufacturing Technology. With a faculty of 148 members, including 30 professors, 180 doctoral students, and 286 master's students, the program provides a comprehensive education in mechanical engineering.

Research Areas

The research areas for engineering masters include:

  • Mechanical design and theory
  • Machinery manufacturing and automation
  • Mechatronic engineering
  • Engineering graphics
  • Fluid transmission and control
  • Mechatronic control and automation
  • Precision instrument and machinery
  • Vibration and shock noise
  • Vehicle engineering
  • Industrial engineering

Dissertation Requirements

The dissertation subject for the engineering master's degree should be derived from real-world programs or have a clear production background and application value. The subject can be a complete engineering design project, a technical renovation program, or research and development of new products. The thesis should be technologically challenging and advanced, containing sufficient workload and reflecting the author's comprehensive ability to solve real engineering problems.

Dissertation Form

The dissertation can take two forms:

  • Engineering design and product development report
  • Research papers

Review and Defense

The evaluation standard for the engineering master's degree thesis emphasizes the author's comprehensive ability to use science theory, research, and technical methods to solve real engineering problems. The review process also considers technological difficulties, advancement, and workload, as well as the author's new thoughts, solutions, and progress in settling real engineering problems. The thesis defense requires three expert reviewers and five expert judges, with at least two senior experts from the engineering field. Students must complete all elements of the training scheme and pass a performance baseline to be eligible for the thesis defense.
