Program Overview
Program Overview
The program in question is the "高级生物化学" (Advanced Biochemistry) course, offered by the 浙江大学生物学国家级实验教学示范中心 (Zhejiang University Biology National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center).
Course Description
The course is designed for 3-4 year undergraduate students in biology, medicine, and related fields. It is a professional elective course that builds upon the foundation of basic biochemistry and biochemistry experiments. The course covers advanced topics in biochemistry, including gene expression regulation, protein structure analysis, hormone synthesis and secretion, cell signal transduction, and RNA processing.
Course Objectives
The course aims to enhance students' comprehensive experimental and research skills, with a focus on theoretical knowledge and practical applications. The course includes two large experiments that cover topics such as GPCR receptor membrane localization and activation, and transcription factor regulation in DNA transcription.
Course Structure
The course consists of 32 hours of experiments, which include:
- Plasmid extraction and detection
- GPCR receptor full gene cloning, transfection, and functional detection
- Cell culture and passage
- GPCR receptor membrane localization and activation observation
- Transcription factor regulation in DNA transcription
Assessment Methods
The course is assessed through a combination of:
- Final exam
- Course paper
- Experimental performance
Experimental Assessment
Experimental performance is assessed through:
- Experimental skills
- Experimental reports
- Extension thinking and experimental design
