Program Overview

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) in Health Policy and Management is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the healthcare system and the skills necessary to manage and analyze health policy.


Program Requirements

The program requires a total of 45 credits, including:


  • Schoolwide Core Courses (15 credits):
    • Statistical Methods (CORE-GP.1011)
    • Microeconomics (CORE-GP.1018)
    • Management and Leadership (CORE-GP.1020)
    • Financial Management (CORE-GP.1021)
    • Introduction to Public Policy (CORE-GP.1022)
  • Specialization Requirements (18 credits):
    • Evaluating Programs and Policies (PADM-GP.2171)
    • Topics in Health Policy: Policy, Politics, and Power (HPAM-GP.2836)
    • Health Economics: Principles (HPAM-GP.4830)
    • Students must also complete either the Analytics Track or the Advocacy Track:
      • Analytics Track:
        • Estimating Impacts in Policy Research (PADM-GP.2875)
        • Multiple Regression and Introduction to Econometrics (PADM-GP.2902)
        • Health Economics: Topics in Domestic Health Policy (HPAM-GP.4831)
      • Advocacy Track:
        • Policy Formation and Policy Analysis (PADM-GP.2411)
  • Capstone (3 credits):
    • Students must complete one of the two following pairs:
      • Capstone: Advanced Projects in Policy, Management, Finance, and Advocacy I & II (CAP-GP 3801 and CAP-GP 3802)
      • Capstone: Advanced Research Projects in Quantitative Analysis I & II (CAP-GP 3148 and CAP-GP 3149)
  • Electives (9 credits):
    • Students can choose from a variety of elective courses to complete the remaining credits.
