Introduction to the Harvard Graduate School of Education
The Harvard Graduate School of Education offers a range of programs designed to prepare students for careers in education. These programs include the Master's in Education (Ed.M.), Doctor of Education Leadership (Ed.L.D.), and Doctor of Philosophy in Education (Ph.D.).
Master's Programs

Arts and Learning Concentration
The Arts and Learning Concentration is designed for individuals passionate about the role of arts in education. This concentration engages students in a learning community where they develop knowledge on contemporary theories, practices, and debates connecting to the role of arts in education.
Curriculum Information
The Arts and Learning Concentration requires students to complete an Arts and Learning core course, which explores topics including practice-based research, arts policy, and an option for an arts practicum. Students will also take "arts-rich" courses, which have an explicit art focus, or "arts-related" courses, which are non-arts focused, but include a project that can be related to arts in education.

- Complete an Arts and Learning core course
- Take "arts-rich" or "arts-related" courses
- Attend four community gatherings throughout the year

Cohort and Community
As a participant in the A&L Concentration, students will connect with other members of their cohort through a yearlong seminar. Outside of class, students can share their artistic work during A&L cabaret nights, concerts, film screenings, and campus art gallery expositions.
Doctoral Programs
