Program Overview
The School Leaders of Color Organizational Development Collaborative is a live online workshop series and affinity network for deepening understanding, sharing insights, and tackling real-time problems of practice experienced by education leaders of color and related to the key organizational development principles involved in effective school leadership.
Program Details
Led by HGSE professor Ebony N. Bridwell-Mitchell, an expert in organizational leadership, this program provides a space for PreK-12 school leaders to leverage their shared experiences to gain peer support and expert guidance to solve real-time problems of practice in their respective schools. The interactive series encourages participants to work collaboratively with a cohort of colleagues as they experience three kinds of learning opportunities:
- Expert-led learning on organizational development principles selected based on participant input
- Collegial learning as participants share their own experiences related to developing their organizations
- Applied learning in small collaborative groups addressing real-time practice problems shared by participants
Schedule
The 10-week live online series will be comprised of bi-weekly 90-minute webinars, the topics for which participants will identify and choose at the beginning of the program. Possible topics may include but are not limited to the following: disrupting entrenched beliefs and practices, navigating informal networks and group dynamics, fostering organizational alignment and coherence, encouraging staff motivation and commitment, managing strategic change in institutions, and more.

- Recognize the key organizational development principles involved in leading effective schools
- Build a network of collaborative colleagues who can help address a wide variety of school problems
- Surface and analyze practice problems related to the experiences and expertise of school leaders of color
- Generate solutions to real-time practice problems using organizational development principles
- Foster productive organizational conditions in which school staff and students thrive
