Program Overview
The Data Wise Coach Certification Program is designed to prepare experienced users to lead teams of educators through cycles of inquiry, helping schools and school systems boost their training capacity and bring data inquiry to scale in cost-effective and context-specific ways.
Program Details
Upon completing this program, participants will become Certified Data Wise coaches qualified to teach educators the Data Wise Improvement Process and coach teams as they launch and work their way through a cycle of inquiry. As a certified Data Wise coach, participants become members of the Data Wise Coach Network (DWN), enjoying benefits such as being part of a community with a common purpose, problem-solving with peer experts, accessing up-to-date resources, and recognition as a contributing member of a leading organization in the field of continuous improvement.
Learning Goals
At the end of the program, participants will have developed and demonstrated six Data Wise coach competencies:
- Share their why and reflect on how it informs their coaching.
- Support teams in using collaborative time well and taking an equity lens as they plan a cycle.
- Support teams in working through the adaptive challenge of taking an equity lens throughout a cycle.
- Provide feedback on Data Wise artifacts/deliverables.
- Engage in ongoing improvement of knowledge and skill.
Faculty Chairs
The program is led by experienced faculty, including:
- Kathryn Parker Boudett, Senior Lecturer on Education, who directs the Data Wise Project at HGSE and focuses on supporting educators in working together effectively to improve learning and teaching.
- Penny Jayne, Managing Director, Global Education Equity Alliance, a passionate educator with experience in state education spanning seventeen years.
- Robert Wessman, Founder and CEO, Koru Strategy Group, a Data Wise Certified Coach and regular teaching team member at the Data Wise Leadership Institutes at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
- Jaein Josefina Lee, Lecturer on Education, who is the faculty lead for the Chen Yidan Visiting Global Fellows Program and the co-chair of the Data Wise Coach Certification program.
Who Should Attend
Individuals who:
- Have completed the Data Wise Leadership Institute and/or Data Wise in Action
- Have completed a Data Wise cycle in their own setting
- Have two or more years of experience working in K-12 schools or higher education, as well as experience facilitating groups and analyzing multiple forms of data
- Want to deepen their ability to teach others how to leverage the Data Wise process, habits of mind, and norms to build equitable schools
- Are committed to becoming part of a community of learners and want to cultivate habits of mind for using time and data wisely
Program Format
The program is blended, with tuition fees of $0.00.
