UConn School of Social Work Programs

The University of Connecticut School of Social Work offers a range of programs designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and expertise necessary to excel in the field of social work.

Bachelor of Social Work

• The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program provides students with a comprehensive education in social work principles, practices, and policies.
• The program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in social work and related fields.

Master of Social Work

• The Master of Social Work (MSW) program is available in both on-campus and online formats, offering flexibility for busy students.
• The program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and is designed to prepare students for advanced practice in social work.
• The MSW program requires 60 credits, including 42 classroom credits and 18 field education credits.
• The program is designed to be completed on a part-time basis, with students earning a credential from an accredited, top-ranked, public land-grant university.

Ph.D. in Social Work

• The Ph.D. in Social Work program is designed to prepare students for careers in research, teaching, and advanced practice.
• The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in social work research, theory, and practice.

Continuing Education

• The Continuing Education program offers social workers and human service professionals the coursework and credits they need to serve clients, agencies, and communities.

Non-Degree Program

• The Non-Degree program allows students to explore the field of social work and potentially apply credits toward the Master of Social Work degree program.
