Program Overview
The Diagnostic Genetic Sciences (DGS) Certificate Program is a 2-year program designed for individuals with a Bachelor's Degree in a life or biological science who wish to enter the field of genetic and genomic testing and research.
Program Structure
- The program consists of three semesters of coursework and laboratory training on the UConn Storrs campus.
- The fourth and final semester is an internship at an affiliated lab.
- Admission to the DGS Program is in the fall semester only.
Program Outcomes
Upon completion of the DGS Program, graduates are eligible to sit for a national certification examination offered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
Program Requirements
- The program is billed based on the Undergraduate In-State Tuition rates, and a combination of Undergraduate and Graduate mandatory fees.
- For financial aid purposes, a student's annual Cost of Attendance (budget) includes direct educational costs (i.e., tuition, fees, housing, and food) and indirect costs.
- Indirect costs include books, course materials, supplies and equipment, transportation, miscellaneous personal expenses, loan fees, and professional licensure or certification, if applicable.
