Program Overview


Accelerated Second-Degree CEIN/BS Program

The CEIN/BS Program offered through the Elizabeth Deluca School of Nursing at UConn is an accelerated one-year program, designed for those with a degree in a non-nursing field. Upon the successful completion of the CEIN/BS program, students are awarded a bachelor’s degree in nursing and will be eligible to take the NCLEX (the RN license exam).


CEIN/BS – Class of 2027 – Financial Aid Application Process

Students enrolled in CEIN may be eligible for undergraduate-level Federal Direct Loans. CEIN students must complete the following to be considered:


  • A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to the start of Spring 2027 classes.
  • UConn’s (first time) Federal Direct Student Loan borrowers will need to complete an undergraduate student Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling.
  • A loan application – if parents of dependent CEIN/BS student are applying for a Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan.
  • A loan application – if applying for a Private/Alternative Educational Loans.
  • A FAFSA prior to the start of Fall 2027 classes.

Eligible CEIN/BS students who complete the FAFSA, are offered undergraduate level Federal Direct Student Loans. CEIN/BS students are not eligible for need-based grants.

Welcome, CEIN/BS students! In addition to Federal Direct Student Loan offers, the following financing options are available to assist CEIN/BS students with their educational expenses:


  • Scholarship Opportunities: Scholarships for CEIN/BS students are administered by the Elisabeth DeLuca School of Nursing.
  • Federal Direct (Parent) PLUS Loan: Eligible parents of dependent CEIN/BS students can apply for a Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan.
  • Private/Alternative Education Loans: CEIN/BS students can apply for a Private Alternative Education Loan.
  • UConn Payment Plan: UConn’s Office of the Bursar offers a payment plan for the fall and spring semesters.
