General Description
This course delves into critical themes in sustainability, including global and local perspectives, urban sustainability, and indigenous views on sustainability and conservation. Students will engage in lectures by leading experts, field trips, readings, movie viewings, and a period of reflection culminating in a final report.
Living and Travel Conditions
Participants will reside in a self-catering residence in downtown Santiago, sharing apartments with up to four students. The residence includes amenities such as a gym, laundry services, and study rooms.
Faculty
Prof. Sharon Reid, a member of the local faculty at the BOSP Santiago Center, teaches a course on Global Change in Chile. She holds a Ph.D. in Ecology from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and is passionate about natural history and sharing her expertise with students.
Prerequisites and Expectations
Students are required to attend every session, participate in class discussions, and engage with course materials. They must approach the program with an open mind, respect their peers and instructors, and adhere to academic deadlines.
Grading Basis
Credit/No Credit, based on class attendance and the timely completion of four weekly assessments (written report or presentation).
Program Cost
The program fee, which is highly subsidized, covers a portion of the total costs and may increase in the future.

Financial Assistance
BOSP is committed to ensuring access for all students, regardless of financial circumstances. Financial need will not impact program admission decisions. All applicants will be considered for financial assistance towards the program fee and travel grant. Students with demonstrated financial need may be eligible for a fee waiver of up to 100% of the program fee. Award amounts will be announced after acceptance. Students receiving a Federal Pell Grant may be eligible for additional federal funding.
