The Master of Science in Translational Research and Applied Medicine

The Master of Science in Translational Research and Applied Medicine (M-TRAM) is a one-year program designed to train the next generation of academic and industry leaders to successfully translate scientific discoveries and clinical applications into practical solutions that improve and save lives. Drawing on Stanford Medicine’s exceptional expertise in medicine, technology, and business, M-TRAM is the only early translational program of its kind on the West Coast and one of only a few such one-year programs offered by a top-ranked U.S. university.


Program Overview

M-TRAM provides world-class training required to successfully advance promising biomedical solutions in both academic and industry settings – from early-stage research to full regulatory approval. The one-year program is ideal for physicians; biotechnology/pharmaceutical sector, medical, business, and legal professionals; medical and graduate students; and recent college graduates.


Program Structure

  • The program combines flexible classroom learning, hands-on clinical research and biotechnology training, and mentoring by renowned Stanford scholars and top industry executives.
  • Technology areas of focus include immunotherapy, gene therapy, vaccines, biomarkers, single-cell omics, and medical devices.
