Program Overview

Introduction to the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) Program

The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) is a broad-based program that covers the department's six areas of engineering emphasis: construction, transportation, structural, geotechnical, hydrology & hydrodynamics, and environmental engineering. The BSCE degree is appropriate for students interested in general civil or in any of CEE's sub-areas.

Program Requirements

Students must complete a minimum of 180 credits to graduate, comprised of program prerequisites, general education courses, and major coursework. Study abroad programs that focus on civil and environmental engineering can also count toward degree requirements.

General Education Courses and Program Prerequisites

Students complete roughly 90 credits of General Education courses, depending on course options selected. Students will typically complete the majority of these classes in their freshmen and sophomore years.

BSCE Major Coursework

Students typically complete their BSCE major coursework in their junior and senior years. During this time, students explore their areas of interest while taking courses to meet their Technical Elective and Engineering & Science Elective requirements.

Sample Four-Year Plan

A sample year-by-year plan is available to help students schedule and complete the required courses and electives in four years.

Degree Sheets

Program degree sheets can help students get an idea of what their first, sophomore, junior, and senior years may look like.

Undergraduate Advising

Current undergraduate students can seek academic advising from CEE Advisers.
