Theatre and Drama Studies Program

The Theatre and Drama Studies program at the University of Toronto Mississauga offers a unique combination of conservatory training and an in-depth academic education. This program prepares students for a dynamic career in the professional theatre world, whether on stage or behind the scenes.

Program Description

Our graduates perform on all of Canada's major stages, in film, TV, and video games; they run major theatre companies and have become prominent playwrights and directors. Others have gone on to successful careers in education, the law, healthcare, and marketing.

Meet Your Community

"My time at UTM has been nothing short of magical. This degree has allowed me to train in acting and production, while also enjoying the academic rigour of dramatic literature, theory, and history courses [...] I’ve had the opportunity to study theatre practices on-site at the Shaw Festival, and write, direct, produce, and perform in my own plays and musicals."

  • Jasmine Jenkinson, HBA expected '25

"Throughout my writing and acting career, I’ve run into classmates and professors many times — even alumni from different cohorts, who were not at UTM at the same time as me. And, still, we laugh and commiserate together about our work and the industry; we have that immediate connection through our time at UTM."

  • Mark Crawford, HBA '04
