Program Overview

The Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies offers various programs for undergraduate and graduate students.


Undergraduate Program

The undergraduate program includes courses such as DRM200Y1 Performance, which is one of four entry courses into the Drama Centre.


  • Emphasis is initially placed on ensemble, non-verbal, and improvisational work.
  • Students proceed to exercise their acquired skills to scripted material.
  • Enrollment: 30-32 students split into 2 sections
  • Pre or co-requisite: DRM101Y1 or DRM220Y1
  • Pre-requisites: Letter of Introduction, Audition tape, Interview and Acceptance into the University of Toronto, St. George campus

Audition Information

  • The first round of in-person auditions is now closed.
  • The second round of online auditions is now open with a deadline of August 5, 2025.

How to Apply for DRM200Y1

To apply for DRM200Y1, students must:


  • Register for a Drama Centre Student Profile in order to complete the online application form.
  • Upload a photograph of themselves.
  • Upload a 1-page letter of introduction by the specified deadline.
  • Upload their Audition Video to Dropbox by the specified deadline.
  • Participate in a 10-15 minute online interview.

Letter of Introduction

The letter of introduction should include:


  • The student's year of study and how the course fits into their course requirements.
  • Whether the student is a Drama Minor, Major, or Specialist, or if they intend to be.
  • A description of their most recent experience in a related field.
  • The name of a production they saw in the last twelve months that impressed them.
  • What they hope to discover by studying performance.
