Introduction to the Sally Ride Science Academy

The Sally Ride Science Academy offers science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) workshops for students entering K-12th grade. These workshops provide hands-on projects, led by top-notch STEAM instructors, and incorporate real-life stories of women conducting research in each field to inspire students and make STEAM careers more accessible.

Program Details

The Sally Ride Science Academy summer program is designed for K–12 students, with hands-on STEAM workshops that let kids step into the roles of space explorers, coders, marine biologists, and more. The program is led by expert instructors and makes learning fun while opening doors to exciting STEAM careers.

Program Structure

The program is structured into different levels, including:

• Lower Elementary School: Ignites imagination in young explorers with fun, hands-on adventures in marine life, building, robots, coding, and messy science experiments, perfect for growing minds in K-1st and 2nd-3rd grades.
• Upper Elementary School: Sparks curiosity in young learners, exploring exciting fields like marine biology, engineering, robotics, programming, and messy discoveries through fun, hands-on activities for grades 4 through 5.
• Middle School: Offers dynamic workshops where students can explore fields like engineering, robotics, entrepreneurship, marine biology, geology, and creative areas like art, VR, and screenwriting through hands-on projects for middle schoolers in grades 6 through 8.
• High School: Provides workshops in cutting-edge fields like AI, robotics, space exploration, epidemiology, digital media, marine biology, and sustainability, all designed to inspire and prepare students for future STEAM careers.

Enrollment Process

To enroll, students must:

1. Create a student account in the student's name.
2. Select the course grade level tab to view course offerings by session.
3. Select the course(s) of choice by clicking on the hyperlinked course titles.
4. Add the course offering to the shopping cart.
5. Repeat as needed for additional courses.
6. Complete the authorization form for each enrolled student.

Additional Information

• Scholarships are available, but the application process for 2025 is closed.
• The program offers a Parent Student Handbook, which serves as a guide for everything needed to know about the Sally Ride Science Academy experience.
• Donations support students via scholarships.
