The Front End Web Development for High Schoolers program is designed to teach high school students how to develop engaging websites and applications using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery. This program aims to provide students with a robust understanding of the roles played by HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in the web ecosystem.
Learning Format
The program is offered online, with a flexible learning schedule that allows students to complete the course at their own pace. The course materials are available for approximately 3 weeks per course during the Summer quarter and 10 weeks per course during the Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters. This program is a cohort, meaning that enrolled students will take all 3 courses together and in order.

- The program consists of three courses:
- Futures: Introduction to Front End Technologies (3 units, $290.00)
- Futures: HTML5 and CSS (3 units, $390.00)
- Futures: HTML5 and JavaScript (3 units, cost TBD)
- The program is designed to teach students how to:
- Develop a robust understanding of the roles played by HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in the web ecosystem
- Demonstrate application of jQuery and manipulate and animate Document Object Model (DOM) elements
- Build websites for multiple screen types with an eye toward creating an interactive experience for end users
- Apply programming logic and syntax principles to the design of dynamic end-user experiences, incorporating pseudocode and flowcharting
- Use real-world use cases that require the employment of decision structures, modules, and functions
- The program also aims to infuse skills critical to professional success and/or success in postsecondary education, such as creativity, collaboration, communication, presentation, organization, and problem-solving, resilience, and growth mindset.

Enrollment
Students can enroll in the program by paying per course as they work through the program. Courses must be taken in sequence. No Futures scholarships are available for Fall 2025.
