Spanish Immersion Program

The Spanish Immersion Program offers students the opportunity to earn UC San Diego Extended Studies credit while learning Spanish abroad. The program is available at the Spanish School Ensenada Baja California in Mexico.


Program Details

  • The program includes Weekend and Weeklong courses, as well as Spanish for Medical Professionals.
  • Students can immerse themselves in the culture by living with a family.
  • The program features excellent materials and instructors, with a comprehensive written exam to determine the student's level.
  • Students can practice their Spanish skills with locals in Ensenada.

Benefits of UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies Academic Credit

  • Students may be able to transfer the units they earn to their high school, college, or university.
  • Students in the Professional Certificate in Spanish Language program can apply the academic credit toward the required elective units.
  • Employers may reward professional development credit, which can increase salary.
  • Registered nurses can earn 30 CEUs after completing the weeklong program in Ensenada for credit.

How to Apply for UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies Academic Credit

  1. Download the relevant academic credit information on UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies-approved courses.
  2. Present the information to your college, university, or employer for review.
  3. Complete the application and submit the necessary fees to UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies after confirming program enrollment with the school abroad.
  4. Register for the language immersion program directly, as UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies will not do so.
  5. Let UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies know that you will be applying for credit before attending the immersion program, so that grade and attendance can be verified.
