Electrical Engineering (B.S.)
Program Overview
Electrical Engineering & Electrical Engineering Technology
The EE and EET programs aim to equip students with the various skills necessary to adapt new scientific knowledge to new products by providing students with a solid electrical engineering sciences background, preparing them to become technologists who can bridge the gap between scientific advancement and practical electrical devices and systems.
Electrical Engineering (B.S.)
The Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering is designed to provide a solid background in electrical engineering sciences. It also provides an opportunity for students to pursue interests in electrical and electronic circuits, including digital circuits and very-large-scale-integration (VLSI) and its fabrication, microprocessors and their applications, electromagnetics, communications, control systems, and digital image processing and computer vision. Through a senior capstone design project, the curriculum emphasizes written as well as verbal communication and a teamwork approach among students to attain a common goal.
Areas of Concentration
- Communications, Microwave, & Wireless Systems
- Control Systems and Robotics
- Electronics and Signal Processing
- Microprocessors, Computer Networking, & Computer Engineering

Accredited by ABET
The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at Penn State Harrisburg is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunication(s), and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
Electrical Engineering graduates are encouraged to continue their professional development by taking the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination at the end of their senior year; the FE exam is a prerequisite for taking the Professional Engineering Examination.
Study Abroad
Students have the opportunity to study in Darmstadt, Germany, with all of their grades from abroad counting toward their Penn State cumulative GPA.
