Program Overview


Human Resource Management Graduate Certificate

The Human Resource Management graduate certificate prepares students to integrate human resources (HR) strategies and practices with organizational strategies to improve business performance and employee relations. Key concepts covered include:


  • Workforce planning, forecasting, and adjustment
  • Ethics, diversity, and employment law
  • Talent recruitment and performance management
  • Compensation strategy and incentives
  • Risk management
  • Employee relations

Upon completion of the certificate, students are awarded a digital badge that can be digitally displayed to recognize their new level of knowledge.


Certificate Requirements

To be awarded the Human Resource Management graduate certificate, students must successfully complete 12 credits of coursework with a grade of C or better in all courses and a grade-point average of at least 3.0.


  • Required: MGMT 841 – Human Resource Management
  • Choose one of the following three courses:
    • BUS 515 – Business Ethics and Corporate Governance
    • LEAD 863 – Ethical Dimensions of Leadership
    • MBADM 815 – Ethical and Responsible Business Leadership
  • Choose one of the following five courses:
    • BUSAD 542 – Global Intercultural Management (Prerequisite: MGMT 501)
    • BUSAD/LEAD 856 – Diversity Leadership (Prerequisite: MGMT 501)
    • HRER 803 – Human Resources in Multinational Enterprises
    • IB 800 – International Business Management (Prerequisite: MGMT 501 or LEAD 501)
    • MNGMT 515 – Labor Management Relations
  • Choose one of the following six courses:
    • BADM 828 - Negotiations
    • BUSAD 843 – People Analytics
    • BUSAD 859 – Career Management
    • HRER 501 – Labor and Employment Law
    • MGMT 823 – Organizational Change: Theory and Practice
    • MGMT 873 – Corporate Innovation Strategies (Prerequisite: MGMT 501)

Learning Goals

Upon completion of this certificate, students will be able to:


  1. Understand key processes, responsibilities, and concerns of human resource management.
  2. Critically analyze current issues with managing people and propose ethical and strategic solutions.
  3. Describe and critically analyze the skills, strategies, and challenges required to manage global and culturally diverse organizations.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must hold either a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or a tertiary (post-secondary) degree that is deemed comparable to a four-year bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution. International applicants may be required to satisfy an English proficiency requirement. The successful applicant is generally expected to have a minimum combined junior/senior grade-point average of 3.0 (B) on a 4.0 scale.
